How to obtain a license
CERN provides a licence for the ROXIE software to interested organisations. A one-off installation fee is required for Universities, R&D laboratories and other public/non-profit institutions. It may also be possible for commercial organisations to obtain a ROXIE licence – please contact the knowledge transfer (KT) team (kt@cern.ch) at CERN for more information.
The software provided under the ROXIE licence is a pre-compiled LINUX version.
If you would like to obtain a ROXIE licence, the process is outlined as follows;
- Send the name and address of your organisation, together with the name of the principal person responsible and the intended use of the software to the CERN Knowledge Transfer (KT) group,
- CERN KT will then obtain written approval from its partner, R. BOSCH GmbH, to grant a ROXIE licence.
- CERN KT will issue you with the standard* ROXIE licence agreement, which you should complete with the required information, ensuring it is signed by an appropriate official signatory of your organisation (e.g. purchasing officer)
- Print two copies of the completed and signed licence agreement and send it to CERN KT.
- CERN will then sign the agreements itself and send one to your organisation, retaining the other for its own records.
- Upon receipt of the signed contract and completion of the administrative process, the ROXIE team ( roxie-support@cern.ch ) at CERN will provide full access to the ROXIE homepage, including facility to download the ROXIE software.
- An invoice for the licence fee will be raised by CERN financial department and sent to your organisation for payment.
NB : Should your organisation wish to amend the terms of the license agreement, approval by the CERN legal service is required. Please note that this can considerably delay the purchasing and transfer process.
Purchasing a ROXIE licence via third-party organisations
We have received a number of requests in recent times to grant ROXIE licences to organisations using a third-party intermediary, such as an import-export organisation or national government agency. Unfortunately, due to the legal issues that such a request presents, we are unable to accommodate this. We are only able to grant licences to the organisation named in the agreement and to whom the corresponding invoice is addressed. If you would like to request a ROXIE licence and are unsure how to proceed, please contact CERN KT for more information.
Purchasing a ROXIE licence for commercial organizations
It is possible for commercial organisations to obtain a ROXIE commercial licence which does not contain the BEMFEM module. A one-off installation fee and a yearly maintenance fee is required.
The process to obtain the licence is outlined as follows:
- Send the name and address of your company, together with the name of the principal person responsible and the intended use of the software to the CERN Knowledge Transfer (KT) group (kt@cern.ch).
- CERN KT will issue you with the standard* ROXIE licence agreement, which you should complete with the required information, ensuring it is signed by an appropriate official signatory of your organisation (e.g. CEO).
